Huawei recently started releasing the stable EMUI 11 update for the Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei Mate 30 Pro in some regions, hoping that it will reach the rest of the regions in the coming days and weeks.
The most prominent changes that this update brings are minor changes indicating that Huawei is working to make these smartphones ready to move to the HarmonyOS system of the Chinese company itself. For example, on the boot screen, the main screen still says “Powered By Android,” but it no longer uses the green Android logo. The other noticeable change is the re-wording of the term security fixes, as the update simply says “security patches” instead of “Android security patches”.
Moreover, this update also brings with it some new non-touch gestures that were included for the first time in the Huawei Mate 40 Series lineup to the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. Also, there is a new theme for EMUI called “Starry Night”.
Returning to the update, EMUI 11 was announced on the tenth day of last September, and while it is still based on Android 10, it brings a number of visual changes and many new features. In fact, this new interface is considered a mixture of Android and HarmonyOS as some components and technology have been transferred from the Chinese company’s operating system.
In fact, Mr. Wang Chenglu hinted that this might be the last release of EMUI ROM before it was replaced by HarmonyOS also known as HongMeng OS. Some smartphones that got EMUI 11 may be able to run Huawei’s operating system next year, but the company hasn’t announced a roadmap for that yet.
It should be noted that EMUI 11 update brings with it a new user interface that is simple, clean and graceful as well, and many usability improvements as well. Among these improvements, we find the Smart Always-On Display that only appears when you look at the phone, and the support for multiple windows has been greatly improved so that applications are now allowed to float above the split screen in two. Besides, EMUI 11 update also brings with it smoother animation effects, and there are a lot of other new effects aimed at improving the user experience.
You also get better privacy, ability to edit notes on multiple Huawei devices simultaneously, and built-in translation app.
Generally, the new EMUI 11 update carries the build number EMUI 184.108.40.206 and has a size of 1.1 GB. As always, it may take several days or a few weeks for this update to make its way to all Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei Mate 30 Pro owners worldwide.
