Microsoft announces Surface Laptop Go and supports Surface Pro X with a new processor

Microsoft today announced the Surface Pro X update with a new processor, and unveiled the Surface Laptop Go as an affordable option for the public among the Surface series that is somewhat of a high price.

The updated Surface Pro X

The device came with specifications similar to the original version announced by the company last year with the Microsoft SQ1 processor based on the ARM design. But the company supported the updated Surface Pro X version with its new SQ2 processor, which is faster than its predecessor, describing devices of the same class, according to Microsoft.

Information about the processor is still scant as the programming giant has not shared many details about it. However, it had described the SQ1 processor as sharing the same “DNA” made for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors for computers; And apparently the SQ2 was customized and built in conjunction with the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor.

The device does not support the fifth generation communication technology, but rather provides 4G and LTE connectivity, which of course will provide a high connection speed when the fifth generation networks become more available. The company promised to give 15 hours of work on a single charge of the battery.

In more depth, we can see that the device does not support 5G technology is acceptable, but the problem lies in the integration process between the system and processor applications, as the processes on it are not yet characterized as smoothly as required, according to its experts.

Price and availability in the market

The device is available starting today with the new processor and will be at a higher price than the first version – of course with the upgrade to the new SQ2 processor – whose price starts from 1000 USD.

Surface Laptop Go

The device comes with a 12.4-inch screen, which is smaller than the 13.5-inch Surface Laptop 3. It also differs from it in terms of the resolution that came in 1536 * 1024 with a ratio of aspect ratio 3: 2, as this had a role in reducing the price

The structure of the external device and its slim design helped in exporting the laptop beautifully with a light weight of 1.1 kg, which makes it easy to carry and more practical, especially for people who are not connected to a specific place and always on the move, and this will help them accomplish their regular and simple tasks, such as writing, following up on correspondence, etc.

For hardware, and unlike other versions of the company’s lite computers and tablets, the Surface Laptop Go carries a tenth-generation Intel Core i5 processor (1035G1), but in contrast, 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of eMMC storage! This is the basic version, but it can be upgraded with an increase in price.

Price and availability in the market

The device is available for pre-order in the United States starting today and will be on the market on October 13th. It comes in three versions, all with the tenth-generation Intel Core i5 processor, but the difference lies in the capacity of the memories and the price, as the following list shows:

Intel Core i5, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of eMMC storage: $ 549.99

Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of SSD storage: $ 699.99

Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage: $ 899.99
